Ummm what? Can you explain how Shell/Exxon/Chevron are "raping people at the pump"? Are they just being nice now that people aren't being "raped"?
Gas is being made for cheaper than any time in recent history and they barely lower the price at the pump. USW has picked the fight this time because refiners are making a killing.

So in a time of record profits, you demand more? If the bottom fell out, would you gladly revert back to what you had before?

Dude you seriously need to educate yourself. You do realize what a small percentage refining makes up of major oil companies right? Exxon for instance derives less than 6 percent of its earnings from refining and selling gasoline. They earn about one-third of a cent for every gallon of gasoline and other refined products sold in the US. Compare that to the 30 to 60 cents per gallon collected by the Federal and State governments. Shell downstream brings in roughly 7% of its total revenue.
Refineries had a good Q4 last year but as you can see, that is not enough to keep Shell anywhere near where they want to be. This is pretty obvious when looking at EVERY major oil stock right now.
It's hilarious that you think these oil companies have so much control over the price people are paying at the pump. If that would the case gas would never dip in price!
