You will care if the hospitals that all the "poors" go to have to shut down and then where are they gonna go?
The nicer hospitals you go to. Then those hospitals won't have a hospital to "dump" those patients on anymore. They will have to take them and eat the costs and then the quality of care eventually suffers when they start losing money.

I am of the opinion these operators are vastly overpaid.

Kind of like an old mall/new mall scenario

It's just a shitty situation all around.

Hear, here.
What about the non-operators?

You're no better than a union in that you hate the free market.
If the market justifies their pay then who are you to judge?

In my perfect world they wouldn't be allowed anywhere if they can't afford to pay but I know that will never happen

how are we over paid? lol

True. It was on a crashcourse. Obamacare just didn't help make it better.

but would the market pay be the same without unions?

oil prices
= free market at work like I said
What? Oil prices have never been governed by the "free market" but rather production quotas of OPEC nations. Saudi Arabia is manipulating the market through overproduction in order to price out American fracing and refining.
How is this market "free" in any way shape or form when it is being actively manipulated by the biggest player in the game?
I think the unions are pretty fricked, but that doesn't change the stupidity of your comment, IMO.

Non union sites make more than union in many cases.

I'm a lowly engineer so take this with a grain of salt. I've been in plants when things got very ugly quick, and have seen operators prevent some serious catastrophes. When you see that, you feel comfortable paying them whatever. I don't think they are overpaid, personally.
That said, I think the cost is getting high enough to start justifying more automation and inherently safer plants at a higher capex which allows for less operating staff.

So oil is not dictated by supply and demand?
Even if it is a artificial shortage it is still supply and demand.

ie. Shell Geismar. they pay $2-3 more to keep the union out.

Probably wouldn't be far off but I doubt it would be as high.

Even kids with cancer? So shut down St Judes as well?
I've gotten really jaded over the years in regards to how people abuse the healthcare system(using the ER as a doctor's office cause there are no copays with Medicaid, etc)...but at the same time I do believe everyone should be able to receive care. Does that mean everyone gets to go to the really supernice hospitals...not necessarily. But there should always be a place for those that have gotten a shitty hand in life to be able to be cared for if they are sick/injured.

Sites are moving that way and have been for many years. Maintenance of these systems though usually still falls to union hands.
