No nothing feels wrong but I'm a beginner and don't know much about the workings of an electric yet.
The guy at our local shop comes highly recommended

Pay him a visit, especially if he's got a good rep with people you know. At the very least, you'll learn a thing or two about your instrument. The guy I go to in Orlando is a prince--just a fun guy to shoot the shite with and honest as the day is long.

When you said "luthier," I assumed you had an acoustic. What exactly do you want the luthier to do to your electric?
