I NEVER knew this existed and was ever even on TV of any kind. My dad and I listened on AM radio to this.
Has there ever been a better one on one scoring match-up in college than this? I think not.

World Class Glass vs. The Pistol (hated intensely by both MS schools)...the tad was in rare form.

I'm aware of the cover. But no He was a very good player though

I have yet to see anyone better off the dribble in college. As good as players we faced that year such as Kendall Gill (Illinois) and Litterial Green (Georgia) were, both paled to CJ.

he's been showing up to more games recently.

I saw that game at a friend of a friend's apartment who had gotten some form of pay per view (Tigervision, I think) for the game. Just incredible to watch Glass and CJ go back and forth. This is a game not many people have seen.
thanks for posting.

We had another non-conference game early that year. May have been Lamar, with a very good ball handling PG. We beat them pretty good but the opposing point guard would come up court and mimic CJs moves. It was great. Wish I could remember the team or guard.

I think it's hilarious that CJ took on the triple team for the last shot when nobody was within 30 feet of dennis tracy...lol.

I recall when we beat Georgetown on Blanton's put back in '89, CJ being triple teamed by Charles Smith, Dwayne Bryant, and Alonzo Mourning. The name that everyone would remember had he not thrown up a dud was Russell Grant -- likely the purest outside shooter in LSU history. He was much like Dennis Tracy and Kyle McKenzie; hence, 2 percent of all LSU fans remember him. Anyhow, Blanton was so opened on the air-ball by Grant (partially defected possibly) due to the enormity of the situation that was giving the game's outcome chance to Chris Jackson.
If I recall, CJ only had one GW shot in his career -- a turnaround baseline 3 pointer with 1 second left vs. a good Vandy team (Booker, Goheen, Kornet, Wilcox lineup). Hard to believe that this may have been the only one.

That rings a faint bell. Maybe the guard was from Mississippi, too? Too long ago for me to say for sure.
Another great memory was the game against the Yugoslav national team. We lost but CJ was mind blowing.

It was off an inbounds play. CJ threw it in to Blanton near the corner and Blanton sort of screened everyone out as CJ ran behind him for the handoff and shot from the corner.

Inbound play drawn up by Dale. CJ inbounded to Blanton who came open off of a baseline screen by Simms. CJ steps into the corner and Blanton shuffles him the ball while shielding off two defenders. Release, rotation, SPLASH! What a great combo, CJ and RB were. The only pair of 20 ppg scorers in LSU history.

I remember Grant well and played with and against him on a number of occasions. Let's just say that I humbly dissent from your assertion.

I remember C.M. Newton, Vanderbilt's coach, standing courtside shaking his head in disbelief.

If you want to count free throws, CJ's shots won the 1989 Kentucky game.
