When they did an audit of the company, one in three workers were deemed unnecessary. My husband was told by a close friend that works there that the HSSE department was cut by 40%.

Will this be the beginning of the end of all of this insufferable talk about Texas being the tip of the spear for the entire country's jobs recovery?

A major problem with BP's, shall we say extra employees, was because they never really got rid of any operational folks when they sold off those GoM assets. The offshore people went with the new buyers, but the land based folks stayed and were plugged in elsewhere.

I don't know but there sure is a lot of envy when it comes to the Lone Star state...some the result of its own natives, I'm sure, but some ill placed. As a resident of Texas for some 25 years now I have come to appreciate the bravado - though inflated on occasions - but refreshing none the less. Have observed the same coming from the Sportsman's Paradise in recent years and I like it...as a native of Louisiana there is much to admire...such a rich State of cultures, diversities and the likes

Is it insufferable if it's true?
