This is literally done all the time.
Hell, the Colts completely changed their defensive gameplan once they figured out Peyton couldn't hit the broadside of a barn deep.

That's a little different than throwing to a cornerback that may or may not be really injured, and who has already picked you off earlier in the game. Deion Sanders is a prime example. He's admitted that he would feign injury to try to get QBs to throw the ball his way since they never would under normal circumstances.
In the example you just used, Peyton Manning is actively demonstrating that he couldn't pass.
