And you call yourself a football fan. Football isn't named so because it is kicked with a foot. It is called football because it is played on foot.

Actually, you'd be wrong. American football developed from rugby and other similar forms of football. The name comes from the fact that the game was very inclusive of kicking. American footballs used to look like rugby balls, but the proliferation of the forward pass caused changes to the ball.

Fun Fact: Soccer was a term coined by British school kids from the term "association football" which was used to differentiate the sport from "union football" aka rugby.
