The reason I love the game is that it is the most apocalyptic and debatably darkest game of all time.

You really hit the nail on the head with these. I'm a fan of OoT first and foremost, but the vibe of Majora's Mask is something I can't describe. I still remember the creeping feeling of stress on that third day. I think it is so beloved because it was so different and still maintained that fun factor.

What intrigues me the most is that it really shines a light on how many "subplots" there are all around you every day and how much you can vastly affect the lives of other in simple ways. Whether it's delivering a letter at the right time or some other trivial task, it may have major implications in someone else's "story". I always enjoyed that.

You had to process dungeons as modules due the resists, you wouldn't clear a dungeon.

The impending doom felt from the 3day duration and total destruction by the moon made the story/quest feel real.
