To add another question to this thread, is there any reason at all to go with the Wrangler over the Unlimited model? I keep trying to talk myself into it, but can't get past how small the interior is. Like I said, I've got a mastiff that will be riding with me from time to time. I saw mention of taking out the rear seat, but I'm still not sure that'd suffice.

Price would make a difference and where you are parking. Gas mileage is about the same.

For instance, mine is a pain to park and drive around New Orleans. Lots of blind spots and street parking can get limited due to size.

The top is pretty much the same for removal on both.

There's a pretty decent amount of room in the 2 door if the Back seat is laying down. There is a hell of a lot of of room in the 4 door with the seats down. Go to the dealership and try them both. I had a fold and tumble rear seat in my CJ7. I carried my blown I-6 to the scrap yard in the back of it.

It's really about how much space you want. If you have a big dog...I'd get the Unlimited. The rear seats in the unlimited fold down very easily to create more room. You can buy a thick rubber mat for the jeep and place over the seats when it's folded down(that's what my husband and I do). For me...I needed a vehicle that I would be able to eventually fit a baby in a carseat in the back AND still have room for our dogs. 4 dr one allows that.
