I think it's a gray area. They have to be authenticated with as much circumstantial evidence as possible. In this case, I'd say the PI's video evidence along with it, plus the exchange of nudes in those texts, would contribute to building a case around the authenticity of the texts.

That's assuming this is all real, which I doubt.
