After eating a Muff at Anthony's Deli, I decided to drive by The Velvet Cactus to check it out. Since this was the first time that I actually looked at the location, I had no idea that they were so close to the road (Old Hammond Hwy). I mean the outside diners can exchange high fives with car passengers.
Anyway, the place looks nice.
FYI They have a speed bump just as you leave the parking lot. Bite down, otherwise you will lose your fillings.

From the look of the pic, you should get killer phone service.

Velvet cactus in Lakeview is some of the worst mexican food I've had in my life. It's a good a spot to drink and catch a saints game but man the food is just bad.
I'm sure it'll print money being as people will go simply because it's from New Orleans. Ambience looks nice albeit your pic is hard to see.

I'm looking forward to having drinks there. Looks like a Mexican Bulldog (same people, I know). I'll reserve judgement on food until I try it myself...seems most logical.

Chalet Brandt lasted in that location for more than 30 years. Since Mr Brandt retired six restaurants have been born and have died in that very location. It's the most expensive commercial real estate in town. Access, egress, and parking suck. Add to that the HUGE capital outlay for property and site prep and you best sling a shitload of tacos just to stay afloat!

Man, that food is just awful

Seems awfully pricey for Mexican food.

Drove by last night on way to WF, the parking lot and patio was packed..
Employees/Special Invitees only night
Have never dined at the VC in Nawlins, but they will do well on Jefferson if only for the patio and drinks..there isn't much in this regards in that corridor.

I hope the food is good. I've been looking for a go-to mexican place to chill at. Superior is generally too pricey and crowded. La Corretta's food I don't find to be that good, and I can't really eat and watch a football game at La Morinita.
I haven't tried Cayote Blues or Zippy's yet
