It's been a really weird drop off. Not only has he been struggling but he seems to go out of his way to pick scripts that seem to have no hope of paying off.

True but one of the cool things about being on the A list is that you get paid AND have your pick of the litter on projects.

Lately? IMO he hasn't done anything impressive outside of the PotC series.

He plays weird, eccentric characters decently well and is Burton's right hand man. But it's not like his Willy Wonka or Mad Hatter were anything special really.

I'll give him credit for Jack Sparrow though...he played that so well and basically carried those four movies for the most part (though the supporting casts were really good to).

Admittedly, I've never seen Blow and have heard that was good.

depp's best role, IMO, was donnie brasco.

he knocked that shite out the park, and it's one of my favorite movies. it also helps that pacino was his co-star, but they both owned that movie.
