I bought a sandalwood soap, and I hated the smell. I had heard people like it. And the smell seemed fine initially, but once I lathered it, it was way too strong.

Edwin Jagger DE 89, prefer Platinum or Wilkinson Sword blades, and Simpson Colonel X2L Badger brush. For prep I use King of Shaves Kinexium oil, and I currently have several varieties of Taylor of Old Bond Street creams (grapefruit, lavender and rose) and some Niven Morgan cream. I think the Niven Morgan is my favorite - but they are all good. After I use Geo. F. Trumpler Indian Limes Skin Food, then after that dries I use L'occitane Cade cream aftershave. A good shave is a luxury for sure.

Yeah - I had used the Col Conk sandalwood hard soap. It had a mild aroma. But, I'm all about the Proraso Red (Sandalwood) now after changing from Proraso Green.

I started with soap just to try it, but cream is just easier for me.

I'm currently using an EJ DE89 with Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellows (Russian) and I don't think I can get any smoother - a little unforgiving coming from a Merkur 34C with the plain Green (Indian) 7 O'Clocks - which was my first regular setup after the sampler.
