He's arguing, I think, that if Jennings sucked so bad at passing, which we all agree, then WTF was he even doing on the field? If the QB was going to hand off the ball or run the ball in a QB option, why not give it to the guy who has better running skills and could actually be a threat Passing (even if you are just trying to fool the defense)?
I think you need to accept the real possibility that Harris was not capable of successfully executing the running game. He wasn't able to identify the fronts and get LSU into the right running play at the line like Jennings was.

Jennings was absolutely NO THREAT to do anything this year, and defenses just pinned their ears back. We were the easiest team in CFB to defend this year, blatantly transparent and unimaginative.
We all know what Jennings was. But, what you choose to ignore is what this team was without a running game. It was the team against Arkansas...a disaster.
In other words, there was no solution. We were either going to have a QB who is limited in the psasing game but capable of executing the running game...or a QB who is an obviously talented passer who while being a very talented thrower, couldn't handle the protection calls in the passing game nor the adjustment requirements of the running game.
Think back to the game prior to MSU. Everyone was bitching about us not "developing the passing game" and instead just running the ball against a clearly inferior defense. In hindsight, I think our coaching staff knew that we were going to have problems in the passing game. And, they were trying to get the running game going because we were a lot more likely to be dominant in that phase of the game (Remember that early in the season, we weren't a great running team).

Very good post, and I feel that it pretty much went down just like you said. I still say that when Jennings was playing so poorly there was no good excuse to not get Harris into the game.
Also, starting with that ULM game I think the offensive shift is part of what masked big deficiencies in our defense. The LSU games against Bama and Ole Miss have to have way fewer possessions by both teams as compared with normal SEC games, say Bama and Miss State. That made Chief's defense look much better than they actually were. Now don't get me wrong, I do think that the defense played well against Bama and Ole Miss. But they didn't have to play nearly as many possessions as most other defenses.
