re: What causes "acorn horned" bucks?

My grandma killed one and had it mounted that we always assumed was hit by a car in velvet.

The right side was perfect, and the left side was smashed flat and all on plane. You could see it matched the good side it was just smushed perfectly flat and vertical with the side of it's face.

I heard if they eat a lot of acorns the horns resemble acorns.

It looked a lot like this buck, but a smaller main frame 8 on the non smashed side.
