it wouldn't be an issue had the "opportunity" been treated the same as all of Jennings'.... it wasn't... it was Miles putting a true freshman in a position to fail and acting like he gave a serious, fair shot... it was meant to appease the fan base...

This is retarded. What is more likely is that Miles and Cam gave him a one game chance even though they believed he wasn't ready. They did the same after Lee got hurt in 2008. They finally HAD to let Jefferson play. He performed well and in his first start the next game, he passed for 2 TDs in a 31-30 loss, but more importantly, it was the first time all year that we didn't throw a turnover in a game. I mean seriously what were they supposed to do after Jennings failed miserably against a crap opponent and Harris came in and put on a show? But sure enough, he was scared out of his mind. He looked dreadful. He wasn't ready.

Now after losing bad twice that year, Miles felt the need to play safe. Harris was already scared shitless against Auburn, so how would he handle "The Swamp" at night? He didn't want to break the boy as a true freshman, so Jennings got in and did just enough to win and he didn't turn the ball over once.

After this Miles/Cam felt that with the emergence of Fournette, they could rely on a steady hand in Jennings to complete a few passes and not turn the ball over. Kentucky was next and we pretty much destroyed them. HERE, is when I first don't agree with Miles on this situation, and it lingers til the season's end. We score and go up 34-3 with ten and a half minutes to go in the third, at this point, why in the hell isn't Harris in the game on our next drive? He did the same with Jennings the year before.

Why did Jennings never play earlier in the blowouts of UAB and Kent State? First time he got significant time was when Mett tore his ACL.

I wrote all of that to say, Miles needs to trust his QBs. When Lee was throwing ints willy nilly in 08, he didn't swap JJ (a true freshman) in because one, he didn't trust him, and two, he was young. Same thing in 2011 when JJ struggled. He already though Lee wasn't going to matter and he didn't trust Mett yet (a first year LSU player). Also again in 2012 when Mett was playing bad. He didn't trust a redshirt freshman with no game experience in Rivers, to get any snaps. Again in 2013 with Jennings, and again after half a year in 2014 with Harris.

I'm going to say it like this, if Harris earns Miles/Cam's trust, he'll start until he graduates (because he is that damn talented).

I agree with you regarding Kentucky, but backup QBs getting snaps against SEC competition is an extremely rare thing.

Jeremy Johnson
Jacob Coker
Ole Miss backup

These players are positioned to be starters next year and got zilch in terms of SEC experience. Then you have to consider that our starting QB was so bad that he needed all the live-action reps he could get.

Lastly, lol at anyone claiming the staff did an injustice to Harris by starting him against Auburn. Miles's house would be ashes if Jennings had started that game.
