Right now I'm reading the first book of the Liberation Trilogy by Rick Atkinson. He won a Pulitzer Prize in History for it.
It's called "An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942-1943" LINK /
The second book covers Italy, and the third book covers Normandy to Berlin. The trilogy does not cover the Pacific.
It's been great so far.

This looks great. I may start here. Thanks for all the great recommendations guys. Plan to do a lot more reading this year.

If you're looking for an overview of the European Theatre, the Liberation Trilogy will provide it for you. I thought the Africa and Italy campaign books were better than the last book, but they are all good.
