When Flying Heart Brewing opens its doors, likely in late March, Bossier City's former Fire Station No. 6 will gain a new lease on life.
Instead of pumping water and foam to put out fires, spigots instead will spew craft beer to quench thirsts and also help three Bossier Parish couples realize a dream born during a camping foray in Arkansas a few years ago.
"We're getting ready to do our first test batches here (this) weekend," said Jason LeBleu, a navigator at Barksdale Air Force Base who is an owner with friends Ben Hart and Ben Pattillo. They acquired the closed fire station several months ago and had hoped to be to open in the next few weeks but still have few regulatory hurdles to leap.
"We will be ready to open as soon as the government says we can. We're in the midst of the permit process. We just lack paperwork, essentially."

We'll start all of our beers with reverse osmosis-treated water, so it's as clean as you can get starting out," he said. "Then on some of our beers we'll actually do a little water chemistry to alter the taste of beer just a little bit, when its the final product."
They hope to produce at least 60 31-gallon barrels of various beers a month. At first, the brews will be sold on-site in 64-ounce "growlers" and in kegs at local restaurants and bars, but eventually their brands will be sold in labeled bottles. That's the plan.

Red River is moving to Bossier as well and opening a taproom
I just don't see Bossier supporting 2 taprooms, but maybe I'm wrong
no one in Shreveport is going to drive to Bossier for their taprooms unless they just start putting out really, really good beer
