well locally it hurts, so of course it's silly for locals to be cheering the prices

but nationally, we cannot let this hurt our path to world domination in petro exports or we're going to face a much more difficult path when the prices come back into the range where it's economically feasible

When the smoke clears from this battle for market share the consumer is going to be the one screwed. These governments and multinational companies are not in a fight to sell you cheap gas. This is the calm before the storm and whenever OPEC get the market share it wants 4 dollar gas will be just a fond memory.
