People keep saying they cannot understand why a junior or 3Y Sophomore would leave early

Not many people say they cannot understand this. What most say is their timing is not that great. Another year would increase their draft position. Another year of learning the game would have helped them get a bigger paycheck.

quote:

Suppose you are at LSU majoring in engineering. And you are such a good engineer that, in the middle of your junior year, the best engineering company in the world, or NASA, or some other unbelievable engineering organization says to you: "we want to hire you now - you don't need to finish your degree. We're gonna pay you a million dollars per year for a 3-year contract and give you half a million signing bonus. Sure you may be a better engineer if you stay another year and graduate, but we are ready to pay you now. And oh, by the way, you're going to be working on your dream job."

Your example is flawed in that not all who are drafted end up with that kind of money. Also, many that declare for the draft don't even get drafted and are then out of an education and out of an NFL career.

Those that are ready to go, absolutely, go and make the money. Come back one day and get your degree. But too many declare because someone put in their ear that they are going to go as a high draft pick and make millions when they end up as UDFA, practice squad, etc. They end up with nothing.

For you to suggest that a kid should stay at LSU when he can go do what he dreams of and make a lot of $ doing it is just crazy. You really can't blame them for leaving.

For me or anyone else to suggest it is not crazy, it is an opinion. For you to suggest that all underclassman who leave early make millions is absolutely crazy. See how that works.
