I'm thinking of running down to New Orleans Friday and doing the "arrive & drive" at NMP. Anyone here done it? Are the karts fast enough to have fun just from driving, or do you needs some other people racing with you to have a good time? Price decent? Looks like $20/10 minutes. How long would you suggest going for? Is the track packed, or are you basically doing solo runs with other people on the track? TIA.

its more fun to race others. i did a corporate event out there a year ago and it was a blast. Those little things can go pretty fast.

I would be just me, so hopefully some other people are out there. Their website says 50mph karts, that has to be quick enough to scare you a little bit I figure.

NOLA Motor sports Park ;)

Yes they're a blast. If you get a kick out of performance driving and sliding around, you'll have fun. Yes there will be other karts with you, but it's not packed. It's more fun to chase good laptime than it is trying to pass some stranger.

I've done some scca events in my cars, always wanted to do some karting, so this might be just right.

I've been with friends, and for a work event. For the work event, we got two 15 minute races in the karts, and 3 runs on the autocross track. It's pretty fun, but it's so far out of the way, I don't really care to drive there for a couple 10 minute races, and I can't see myself spending more than $40 to ride go-karts. I'd recommend going once though, if you haven't been. Those things do go pretty damn fast.

One other thing that sucks is the couple times I've been with friends, there are usually nerdy, a-hole teenagers who race there all day and are pretty aggressive on the track.

I was just looking to take my employees there. It didn't seem worth it for the amount of time you get. I'm looking at taking them to Rock and Bowl instead.

Yes, I wouldn't go unless I could spend a while there and at least $100. But, 15 minutes in a cart getting thrown around is a good while. If you are not in prefect shape, you will be pretty sore the next day.
