They're spending more than they take in.
This seems to be a problem for more than just Zachary. The EBRPSS has the same problem.

The school system’s latest projection, released earlier this month, is that it will spend nearly $29 million more than it takes in during the 2014-15 fiscal year unless it makes cuts.

The people of Zachary will get to decide whether, or not, they want to maintain the same level of spending by paying increased taxes. People within the boundaries of EBRPSS will not be offered that choice. They will just see a decline in spending at EBRPSS schools for everything except meal programs.

Why do you crave making the EBR school system look bad in a thread about the Zachary school system by linking a story that's over a half year old and which has already been addressed by the EBR school board? Are you really that pathetic in your negativity?

About 10 years ago, funding problems were so bad that it looked like Pointe Coupee Parish Schools were going to have to shut down two elementary schools and one high school. I doubt Zachary (or anyone in SoLa except maybe St. Helena) is having a problem as big as that.
