IMO, The Killing was an average show. Average acting, very average writing. I thought the 4th season was pretty terrible. I admit, I watched that right after I finished Twin Peaks and could not help but compare the two which is probably a little unfair. I thought Sarah Linden was a pretty bad character to hang a show on. Zero redeeming qualities. Her terrible parenting became a joke to me in the third and fourth season. If you liked The Killing, checkout Broadchurch (second season coming soon). Its a much better show IMO. Top of the Lake is another one of those whodunit shows but involves a rape rather than a killing and it is pretty good.

I agree with all of this. Terrible character to hang a show on.

My main complaints about the first two seasons were entire episodes that went nowhere and storylines that seemed to be completely pointless and added nothing to the story.

Season three had a little of that but not as much.
