That is a very hazardous profession - certainly in a different way than police officer, and also a very useful one to all of us on this board. Think about it, ride all day standing on a bumper of a truck, all kinds of weather and working around very powerful heavy machinery that requires constant vigilance not to get gravely injured or killed.

In general on law enforcement death rates close to 2/3's are non-violent. Much more likely statistically speaking to be killed while driving or while doing a traffic stop.
