Upgrade PS4 harddrive to 2TB

Hey I just did this using the drive below and it was a pretty painless procedure.
LINK
The only hiccup was that Sony has not been good about updating their support pages with the 2.03 compatible update that initializes the drive (it's a different file than just the update file).
LINK
Since PSN was mostly down I used thumb drives to backup my game data and restore it.
Now, with a 2TB drive there is 1.77 TB of free space for user data.
With a not so small portion of the stock 500gb drive used for the system and the size of these next gen games it won't take long in the future to fill up the original drive so I went ahead and did it now.
Hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade.

Did you pull the drive from the enclosure or just piggy backing an external hard drive?

You pull the new drive from the seagate enclosure. There are some youtube videos in the amazon link.
It is only one screw on the PS4 once you slide the cover off to the side to get the drive out.

You could probably take the old PS4 hard drive and throw it in the enclosure and use it as an external drive for other PCs or the PS4 itself

Absoulutely. You just have to take some care removing the foil tape around the sata-usb adapter.
It's certainly a nice benefit to come away with a 500gb backup drive also.

I did the same thing and I read that the "cloud" would have the game info backed up, so we upgraded and now my kid is livid that his characters are wiped out. I still have the old drive, but I thinking he has already played enough to forget about it. He is correct very painless and required little effort.
