Seriously? ATL is such a hot-bed for hate crimes that you have to avoid certain parts of the city on MLK day?!?! That is ridiculous.

No, you should avoid them at all times. Period.

Atlanta is a big city with many different little pockets that are still "Atlanta". I don't ever go near the dome or downtown or tech unless I'm forced to. Regardless of what day it is. They are dangerous.

There are PLENTY of other areas though around Piedmont park, or the highlands, or buckead, or brookhaven, etc. that are lovely and would be a great place to raise a family.
