Our defense was top 20 nationally and #3 in the SEC last year.

Since people like to point our how our offense didn't show up in the biggest games, how about the defense? Gave up 525 yards of offense to Ole Miss and 27 points. Gave up 494 yards of offense and 44 points to UGA. Gave up 464 yards of offense and 26 points to MSU. Gave up 372 yards (at 6 yards per play) and 38 points to Bama. Also gave up 360 yards at 5.71 yard per play and 27 points to Arkansas. I would put Auburn's 437 yards and 21 points up there, but most of that was in garbage time.

Only really good defensive effort LSU put up on any decent offense, was what they did against TAMU and early on against Auburn.

TCU, UAB, Kent State, UF, Furman, and Iowa, were terrible on offense. LSU's defensive ranking in 2013 was a statistical fact, but on field lie.

I remember how excited I was when teams had to punt in 2013 because they would just fricking slaughter us most of the game.

They weren't as good as usual. Both sides of the ball were inconsistent, but the offense should have been more consistently dominant given the talent. We had a three game stretch in the meat of SEC play where the offense was very lackluster. We scored 17 against UF at home, 24 against Ole Miss and 17 against Bama. We were completely shut out and completely dominated by Bama after we scored to tie it.

The D did a great job in holding Auburn and aTm to 21 and 10 points when Auburn averaged about 40 and aTm averaged 44. Iowa didn't have a good offense, but the D did a great job shutting them down too with Ego having to miss the game. Other than those games and against UF (who had a bad offense), the D didn't play very well.
