I live in NJ and didn't know anything about him until the Ebola stuff came up. Don't know why so many southern posters are so well read on him.

This is another statement people often make on here in regards to instances where politicians from the north are commented upon.
When you are the mayor of one of the largest cities on the planet, your voice carries MUCH farther than many governors.
In the world of politics, it would be idiotic to ignore that.
