Ultimately, I fear Apprenticeship-Week-faculty homogeneity is a symptom of a greater illness—the Law Center’s systemic lack of commitment to diversity. As a result of the Law Center’s having a disproportionately low number of minority faculty members, racial minorities enrolled here have few positive role models with similar life experiences to help guide them through school and into the legal profession. The hundred-plus minority law students at LSU have three full-time faculty members to look to as role models whose life experiences and perspectives on the legal profession may be similar to the students’ own.
