No. Hits in the NHL playing 82 games are far more frequent than NFL playing 16 games

To answer the questions:

If so, why don't we hear more about concussions/injuries? It's a major deal in Canada, talked about quite frequently. They are working on how to handle concussions at the minor league levels. Some of the strategies have involved changing the age of body contact to later ages as well as earlier ages (so kids learn how to take checks as a 5 year old)

Is it because most hockey players are foreign and don't have a sense of entitlement that Americans have?
Don't think its an entitlement issue at all. Former NHL players were severely underpaid and it took a long time for them even to form a Union. Look up Ted Lindsay for more details.
