Because NYC's contributions aren't of a food or food culture of their own. It is full of different things and lots of it. Melting pot...it is known for the place with some top tier joints (its a super giant rich city) and a ton of other shite which is great and all.
But New Orleans has a much more concrete food culture to call their own that has been made famous.
