Well some planned well for retirement they just didn't factor in having to support their 20 something son or daughter! With my friends, all of them with offspring 24-30 of age, are having to support or at least partially support their sons/daughters. Some are subsidizing a life style for their kids but others are helping them simply make ends meet.

See this all the time. I would say almost half my friends still get money from their parents (rent, cell phone or insurance paid for) and I'm 28. I will be investing thousands of dollars into my child's college tuition and he will have to make the decision whether to invest it wisely (well paying major) or unwisely (philosophy/mass com/psychology, etc.). I will probably help them out with some bills for about 6 months after college but no longer than that, I don't care if I'm a multimillionaire. They will have to either sink or swim after that.
