Briggs Vanguard Mudboat Motor Issues

Looking for help in troubleshooting a problem with my go devil. Here's the back story....A boat mechanic installed a permanent tank in the front hull of the boat so we wouldn't have a portable tank in our feet. It has worked great for years. Here's the breakdown of the fuel setup.....there's a 14 foot fuel line down the right side of the boat from the tank to the back of the boat, then a primer bulb, then a small trickle fuel pump, then a water trap, then a line to the engine.
Lately, the motor won't start on a cool morning and i've tried the primer bulb but cant get the primer hard. Therefore i've walked the boat out to the blind. However, once it warms up during the day and the hunt is over, the motor cranks on the first try? I'm thinking that it's got to be a fuel issue and possibly air in the line, but i'm far from mechanically inclined and just going by a gut feeling.
Any help would be appreciated.

Join Mudmotortalk.com if you haven't already and post your question. You'll get some BS responses, but you'll also get some with a legit diagnosis. A lot of those guys know these mud motors inside and out and do a lot of engine mods.

How old is the engine? Carb overhaul if you have been running ethanol for the last five years.

Post your email if you're interested in a good affordable mechanic. He fixed mine for dirt cheap and would be happy to give him business.

What size engine? I have a 35 vanguard with no primer bulb at all. I've had it for 4 years and never needed it. I have a brand new one in a dry box jic I ever do need one.
If I were you, I'd bypass everything by bringing a short hose and a FRESH can of gasoline. Just hook the new hose to the motor and stick it in the new gas and see what happens. This may help, but as previously said, it's possibly the needle valve or something with the carb. But at least testing it with a new line and gas would eliminate the fuel delivery system from the equation.

Have you tried using the choke on cool/cold days? Only on cold days I have to choke mine.
