I just ran it in 10 and had no problem. I don't use that function much, well ever, so I am not much help. How many points do you have?
Also, google the phrase and see if you can find the same thing for an ESRI forum. That has helped me in the past.
ETA: I had nothing else checked, just the input file and the output file name and hit run.

Figured it out. Simple fix. I had my tools executing in the background, allowing me to continue working while anything was processing. Apparently too much stuff going on can throw it off. I enabled it to operate in the foreground (making me wait to do anything until it finished processing) and it worked.
