Gag gifts are the way to go for adults.
One year my brother gave our grandmother a kit called "how to screw in the dark" it had a screwdriver and a flashlight. Both useful. But we gave him hell over giving her that.

i only really want 2 things right now and they are too expensive to tell my wife and kid to get- new Weber grill and a Tag watch.
Of course, my wife doesn't work, so it's really my money she is spending anyway. I do think she is getting me the grill though, just because I haven't given her much else for ideas besides some new gym clothes.
