Not to say he didn't pan out, but Kirk Ferentz was a very hot name for every opening a few years ago and that has completely cooled off. I haven't heard him mentioned for a job in a few years.

Ferentz is a good one. He makes a ton at Iowa which is why he probably has no interest in leaving anytime soon.
This thread is a spinoff from the name Miles' replacement thread. I chuckle at some of the flavor of the month coaches and shake my head at the delusion some people suffer when they think a guy like Patterson would come to LSU.
Rich Ros is a big name, but he was widely panned after the clusterfrick in Michigan. Muschamp is another one and Mullen would have fit the bill circa 2013. Dirk Koetter is another Boise guy that was a bust.
