All HDMI cables (for TV viewing) are created equal...True or False?

more or less. signal is digital.
however, they make different flavors (v1.1, v1.2, hdmi+ethernet, etc.) and different varieties (redmere with thin cable but one-way signal), thicker HDMI to run through walls..
so for a generic HDMI, you are correct. Just go to monoprice & get a $3 one that has the latest & greatest standards.

Practically true. If you don't need anything special or need a thinner cable for any given reason, go with the cheapest, and you'll be fine.
There are exceptions. You're probably not one.

I've had no problems over the years with the cheapest cables from Monoprice and Amazon up to 15 feet long.

I thought that was the case. But I just got a new Samsung TV (previously had a Toshiba that kept freezing up) and the picture doesn't look as good as i thought it would. Only difference is i used a different HDMI cable. Probably just my eyes playing tricks on me.

False. there are various capabilities depending upon the vintage HDMI standard.

Same for me. Interestingly, I have used HDMI cables from other sources at similar price points that have given me problems.

HDMI cables aren't supposed to be spec'd with HDMI version numbers. See the hdmi.org link I gave earlier for the official cable designations.
