.243 is a good round. I borrowed one for a while when I was getting the trigger on my 30-06 worked on. I never had a problem even with pigs. My wife uses a 25-06 exclusively. It is all about shot placement. Hit them in the heart (behind the shoulder), or neck/head shots.

that doe is small...bout the size of the one my boy just got...I gave him shite for shooting Bambi....I would have let her walk, but he wasn't with me...
