Alabama scored almost 5x as much as its opponents; OSU scored less than 2x as much as its opponents.
Ha. You're playing fast and loose with the facts there. I like that you say "almost 5x" but in actuality, Bama scored barely over 4x (4.08x) as many points...not almost 5x. while Okie State scored less than 2x, but that less than is 1.9x. You're misrepresenting the numbers a bit.

All things considered, there's nothing wrong with Bama at #2
How about that OSU was a conference champion and Alabama didn't even win their division? Or that Alabama had something like only two wins against ranked opponents compared to OSU's four or so?
Name recognition and media (Oklahoma having a State behind it rather than not; Alabama and Nick Saban being involved) push due to it accounted for the rankings more so than on the field accomplishments.

quote:Because they better records and tougher schedules than TCU and Baylor. All four of them.
In the end, we end up with four teams from the same group of championship-contending teams we always have.

quote:I never said that there was anything wrong with Oklahoma State. Either selection is reasonable; what is unreasonable is the lack of clarity regarding what the criteria are.

quote:Can't say that for certain. I can provide you well-sourced, comprehensive numbers saying that Bama should be in. For example, the difference between Bama and Pokes is less than the difference in BCS+MOV and BCS-MOV. If MOV is used, Bama gets a unanimous #2 in the computers; it wasn't, thus Okie State's slight computer advantage. I myself don't like using MOV, but I see why people would want to factor that in. Neither way is "right" or "wrong," especially in this case. The problem is that the voters don't have to show their work. Not cool.

I suppose that depends on where you pick your numbers from.

Don't end a sentence with a preposition, amateur.

96 team playoff is the only way to crown a true champion.

quote:USC and OU were 1&2 from the start of the season and Auburn was ranked in the low teens. They were never going to jump them because the human factor would have never allowed that to happen. I do believe Auburn had more wins against ranked teams than either OU or USC that year.
Oklahoma and USC each had a higher SOS than Auburn in 2004.

Interesting, but the first failed shot at grammar was fired by you, and you were clueless. So how about you learn a little more before lecturing people, cool?

Doesn't matter. On selection Sunday, the two teams selected were the two who had higher SOS. The only problem is that we didn't know at the time that #1 was ineligible.
