If true, Riley is a great coach. He was just being loyal to his region by staying at OSU. People don't realize how hard a job OSU is to succeed at given the limited resources and being second fiddle in a state like Oregon.
They love him up there despite struggling the last few years, so that should tell you something.

He's had good offensive talent there for years. He should not be missing bowl games right and left with them.
