I read most of it. Somebody in this thread referred to it as a thinly veiled suggestion that he leave town. Thinly veiled? Haha! Scott Rab all but said, "Les, let me come help you pack."
I thought it was something like kicking a guy when he's down. And mean spirited at its core.
Don't get me wrong, I have been frustrated with some of Coach Miles' decisions and his approach to using personnel, and his slowness to make needed changes. And I haven't minced words about that here sometimes.
But since 2007 happened, I have never, ever questioned his loyalty to LSU. Which is to say, I have come to believe that if this coach would ever leave LSU, it would be because LSU was not loyal to him. And that includes me and people like me. And for this, I am feeling pretty badly right now. Because I really like and always have liked Les Miles, the person as the face of LSU.
And yes, even with the albatross that is 1/9/12 still hanging around, his body of work here has been beyond anything I would ever have expected. Except maybe in how he does his QBs. But that can be fixed.
Can he get back to some version of the earlier "let 'er rip" Les Miles here? That's a question that remains to be answered. If he can, I'd be happy for him to stay at LSU until he is ready to retire on his own.
And yes, as much as I'd like LSU to beat Alabama - I'd really love for Coach Miles to get back to beating Nick Saban a few more times, as HC of LSU.
