So what is all this I am hearing about that not only did the BoT not allow UAB to hire Jimbo and would not allow them to have an on campus stadium which would help their attendance, but they also wouldn't allow UAB to accept numerous donations to the athletic program????

All true. This won't end with football either. You know how scared Bama is of UAB athletics? Around the same time they nixed the Jimbo hire, there was a basketball player at Bama who was from Birmingham and wanted to transfer UAB. They released him to transfer to any school EXCEPT UAB. How does that benefit Bama? It certainly isn't a competitive threat, Bama is too scared to play UAB in basketball. The only time they've faced off is when they were forced to in the NIT in the early 90s and UAB beat Bama.

They denied his release to UAB because they believed UAB's coach went behind their back to convince him to transfer.

ETA: He ended up transferring to North Carolina.
