Facebook will slowly die off and go the way of the myspace. It simply asks for too many facets of your life. We are not the exact same people around coworkers, family, friends, or strangers (well most of us at least).

Other social media outlets let people tailor both their sharing and experience to a certain domain of their life. People generally don't have one monolithic identity and that will ultimately be the demise of Facebook.

The founder of 4chan has a good speech about identity on the internet that speaks to this idea.

like just about anything.


Key word is "slowly die off".

its not going anywhere, and seems to have only gotten more popular as older(and younger) people are signing up
