Okay I'll give you that but getting better at reading defenses is best achieved by getting game time experience. Miles hasn't given BH that opportunity since Auburn.

No, it's more than that.

The QB not only needs to "know the playbood". He needs to understand the blocking schemes and make the calls at the line of scrimmage in the running game. That involves an understanding of the defensive front that he's seeing and the play being called.

In the passing game, he needs to understand his protection and again the defensive front that he's seeing. He needs to be able to recognize when there is a problem with protection so that he can adjust.

Although I have no personal knowledge, I'd be willing to bet that Harris is failing on these pre-snap reads. Post-snap, I think the staff could adjust the play calling, give him half the field to work with and get things done.

But, if on 1st and 10, the kid can't get us into the right running play so that we're in 2nd and 5 instead of 2nd and 12, or handle a situation when we are 3 wide and the defense walks up an extra defender to blitz, then he can't play.

The good news about Harris is that once he gets these things down, his talent should take over. If he gets 5-7 plays in a game where he has time to throw the ball downfield, our offense goes from average to great.
