I see no reason to soft peddle this. As a graduate of LSU, married to a graduate, with a child currently matriculated there, I have a vested interest in the academic side of the university. It is a UNIVERSITY, one that has been gutted by unfair state budget cuts for far too long.

I recognize that non-alums (particularly their money) are very important to the success of college football programs. But that doesn't mean that I have to like them. I have for years believed that alumni should get some sort of bone thrown their way when it comes to season ticket priority, as many other schools do, but no.

I never realized those two facts stacked against each other. As compared to their peers, LSU football benefits its university more than average and its alumni less than average.

Louisiana is a state with only 4 million people. a lot of these people are uneducated and near poor (or poor). and the state has too many colleges, imo. so the state either doesn't have the resources or doesn't allocate the resourses to properly fund LSU. graduates of other state schools are always whining about how much LSU gets but I think some of these schools should be closed down. i'm sure this attitude wouldn't win me any popularity contests but there simply isn't enough money to fund them all properly. and then only about 19% of louisianians have a degree beyond high school so the 81% don't give a shite. sad yet true. many, many LSU grads leave the state after graduation because the state economy doesn't provide enough good jobs to keep them. us, I should say. sorry for the diatribe but this has been under my craw for almost 50 years.
