You do not fire a coach with 7 9+ win seasons unless you already have someone in mind AND that person has said "Sure I would like to come run a program where I will be fired after only winning 9 games each year for 7 years."

Tom Osborne had 25 straight 9+ wins seasons (including 15 10+ win seasons) and finished ranked in the top 15 in 24 of his 25 seasons. Although that must have been incredible for Nebraska, they may still think that is the norm since he was the coach for 25 years from 1973-1997. They had a miracle run and that ain't happening again. The funny thing is that Osborne had 7 straight bowl losses before Nebraska went undefeated in back-to-back seasons repeating as National Champs (he was a field goal away from winning three straight). Their 95 team is still the best I've ever seen.
