The 290x is still superior to the 970.
And the 970s are in stock just about everywhere. I got one off of amazon on wednesday. It's a birthday present so I plan on selling it since my 780 runs just as well.

Nah man the cheaper ones under the 340 range are out of stock all over, most were on sale today and are gone.
And I'd much rather have a 970 than a 290X.
