Devin had a very special night indeed (as did the rest of the Knights football team, especially the offensive line). It was an even more impressive performance considering HOW he got the yards. With the type of offense NWHS runs, Devin doesn't get many "easy" runs or runs "in space." He gets a lot of yardage between the tackles and a LOT of yards after first contact. Patterson was a good team (#7 seed) w/ a hard hitting and athletic defense. Devin was frequently gang-tackled. It takes a lot of strength and energy to get up after going down under 500-750# of tacklers. And as already mentioned, this was done while going both ways nearly the entire game. It's scary to think what he could do only playing on either offense or defense. Looking forward to the Knights having the opportunity Fri to avenge last years playoff loss to Amite.

I dont think we land this kid unfortunately

I was there and thought he had an awesome game and was asked to do alot. Although definitely didn't see about half of the supposed 28 tackles someone above said he had. Saw him on the bench a lot while team was on D. Also thought he will be much improved when he gets in better shape. I know it is extremely hard to play as much as he did, but the kid looked gassed in the mid first and third quarters as well as late in the second and fourth. Lazy in his stance, but would pop up and drag about half their D for 5-15 yards a carry.

Also did not like the attitude he was portraying when the team got down big in the third quarter. One kickoff in particular he was back returner and didn't bother even coming up to block when it was sky kicked for a teammate fifteen yards ahead of him. Just walked behind the play. Coach chewed his arse, and don't think he would've gone back in the game for most coaches. But letting him play was the only way the team got back in the game. Hope he isn't a liability from an attitude standpoint.

He didn't have even close to 28 tackles. He also does have a negative attitude. If he doesn't get the ball he never blocks and sometimes doesn't even move, as he did on the kickoff the other night. But he is getting a whole lot better at that and is gaining more respect from his team each week. By the time he graduates he will be a beast on the field, in the classroom, and at life. He is a great kid.

I've had a little experience with Devin. He's a super nice kid but he probably doesn't realize how much he's being scrutinized. He wants to be the ball carrying superstar and I don't blame him for that. But he needs to work on his team skills and his presentation skills for sure. lol. I think LSU can take care of that in one spring.

By the way Devin is only 16 and had played his heart out Friday night. I watched him ask to come out one time and the coach left him in. When you give the kid the ball 8 times in a row what do you expect for him. Now it's funny you want to see him lead them this week too.
