I would urge you to buy a Yoga 2 or Yoga 3 instead of a surface if you're looking to use it as a laptop. I returned my surface because it couldn't hold up as a legitimate laptop in my work and school environment

The surface is better built than most laptops, with just as much horsepower

You must not have had the Surface 3 Pro. The other hardware sold under the "Surface" brand, especially those running on RT, are another matter. But Surface 3 Pro specifically is the best thing going right now.
