Say she texted you that the connecting flight left early and that she'll be 1.5 hours early.
Leave now citing you don't want to be late and aren't familiar with the area.
Go to the store and pick up some BF deals then head to the airport.

Start off by telling them that they have a nice house and that you're excited to get to spend a little time with them...
...then say that you just with your 6 year old son was there with you so they could get to know him. However, he can't be there during this festive occasion because your baby-momma's parents have custody and they live in Montana. The flight into Billings isn't all bad...their daughter should know all about it.
Then mention they need not worry about your child's mother...she's in jail for manufacturing meth in your house (the reason for the separation).
Then smile, raise your beer and say, "one day!"
